About Ohio Uncovered

Curiosity, with a Buckeye Accent.

We’re an independent guide to Ohio’s well-loved landmarks and overlooked corners—written for people who believe the best trip is often forty minutes from home.

Our story

It Started with One Wrong Exit.

Ohio Uncovered is an independent guide to the state’s well-loved landmarks and overlooked corners. We follow back roads, ask too many questions, and share what we find—honestly and with plenty of useful detail.

It started with one wrong exit. A detour off State Route 33 turned into an afternoon of collapsed canal towns, a diner pie worth writing home about, and a question neither of us could shake: how much of this state do we actually know?

The answer, it turned out, was: not nearly enough. So we started keeping notes—on Hocking Hills trails worth the early start, on Serpent Mound’s slow curve at sunset, on the islands, the county fairs, the museums dedicated to delightfully strange things. This site is those notes, cleaned up and shared.

What we cover

Three Things, Done Well.

We’d rather go deep on a few subjects than skim all of them.

Field-Tested Guides

Every trail, table, and small-town stop is visited in person first. If a guide says the parking lot fills by ten, it’s because we were there at 10:15.

Honest History

Ohio’s past is bigger than the textbook version. We dig into the people, mounds, canals, and controversies that shaped the state—and say what we don’t know.

The Odd and Unexplained

Lake monsters, gravity hills, mud men, and museums dedicated to unusual things. Every state has its strange side; Ohio simply has more of it.
